Headlands Sunset

This picture was taken right at sunset on the very southern tip of the Point Reyes peninsula. People often ask if this picture is "real" and also ask what I did to get this picture to look like this.
Here is exactly what I did...
I stood on a cliff in a very high wind for half an hour waiting for the light to get just right. I held my hand in front of the lens to shield it from the sun to increase the contrast, and then I ran like heck (with all my camera gear) since I was an hour hike from my car and the sun had already gone down. Now you know my "secret".
This photograph was inspired by Japanese landscape paintings and several people have purchased this photograph with the intention of making a painting from it. It is like one big circle.
